Nova Crnja

It was founded in 1794 by József Csekonics, governor of the state-owned stud farm of Mezőhegyes, and the owner of the manor of Zsombolya, on the Buzitova plain. It was populated by tobacco gardener families from Szeged, and more of them joined from Csősztelek in 1828. It was named after Szerbcsernye, a nearby settlement.
