Lukino Selo

The settlement on the coast of the river Bega was founded in 1785 by Lázár Lukács, a merchant of Armenian origin, one of the largest landowners in the Banat. It was inhabited by tobacco gardeners from Szeged. Later, in 1825, large numbers of Catholic Bulgarians, gardeners of the shattered Pallavicini manor and families from Kisszombor also came to the village.
