Tiszaszentmiklós is a settlement in the North Banat and belongs to the municipality of Csóka. Its name was mentioned in the charters as early as 1280. In the Middle Ages it was called Rasán-Szent-Miklós, and later the name was changed to Kis-Szent-Miklós. The settlement was the ancient property of the members of the Csanád clan. In 1280 it was looted and burned down by the Cumans. During the Turkish rule, its population became sparse, and after several changes of ownership, Palatine Joseph bought it in 1816. The first settlers were Germans and then Hungarians moved here too. During the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia it gained its current Serbian name after the writer Tihomir Ostojić, a native of the village.
