Toba

Tóba is the village with the smallest population in the municipality of Magyarcsernye. It originally belonged to the Szenthubert-Tóba manor. In 1797, tobacco gardeners from Szeged settled here. It was owned by several famous people (The Zichys, Prince Chambord, Elias, Duke of Parma) and then bought by the tenant and surveyor bank in southern Hungary, which parcelled it out in 1910–1911. Until 1848, it was an independent plain under the name of Nagy-Tóba.
