Udvarszállás is one of the southernmost settlements of the Hungarians living sparsely in South Banat. According to the registers, the settlement was founded in 1822, and its first settlers were German-born farmers living in Banat. In 1833, Count Ferdinand Bissingen Nippenburg’s son, Ernő brought Hungarian settlers instead of the small number of Germans on his estate of Jám. Some of the Hungarians are the southernmost expansion from Szeged, but settlers also came from Nógrád, Heves, Jászkunság, as well as from Csanád, Csongrád and Timiş counties.
