Novi Bečej – Vranjevo
It is referred to as Aracsa in the papal tithe registers of 1332-37, as well as in the documents of the 15th century. In 1440 it belonged to the castle of Becse and shared its fate throughout the Middle Ages. It was destroyed during the Turkish occupation, and then Serbs settled down in the area northeast of the village, and named their sparse settlement Vranova (Varjas). After the victory in Zenta, this region was liberated from Turkish occupation in 1697, and many people from Becse, Péterréve and Mohol moved to Vranova. In the years 1820–1840 its population also grew with craftsmen, shipwrights and millers from the outskirts of Szeged, Bácska and Maros County. In 1888 it was renamed to Aracs.
