Even the map of 1783 shows large swamps on the site of today’s settlement. In 1781 the manor of Beodra, to which this swamp area belonged, became the property of Bogdán Karátsonyi, who started draining and drying these marshlands, and then around 1790 he settled Hungarian and German tobacco gardener families here. It became an independent village in 1893. After the World War II, Bosnian Serbs were settled in the village. Töröktopolya hasthe only shrine of Mary in Banat, her saint’s day is the Assumption of Mary (15 August)
