Sajan
Szaján is an ancient Hungarian personal name. The first certified records we know of originate only from the mid-15th century. After the Battle of Mohács, the noble landowners and serfs fled from there, and then it remained a plain for a long time. At the beginning of the 19th century it was the property of János Tajnay, who settled tobacco gardeners there from the outskirts of Szeged in 1806. In 1848 it burned down completely. In 1849, near Szaján, a place called Vilmatér, named after Mrs. Tajnay Vilma Jeszenszky, was formed from German-speaking settlers. This settlement was united with Szaján in 1883. In 1855, a flood destroyed the fields outside the village, and in 1873, cholera took many lives. The Kecskelléri plain belonged to the village, as well as the following inhabited places: Bika-telek, Dinnyeföld, Kenter-tanya, Rókás-tanya.
